"THREE RIVERS ALFISTI" LAUNCHES AS NEW ALFA ROMEO OWNERS CLUB

PITTSBURGH, PA - July 13, 2017 - "Three Rivers Alfisti" has officially launched as the first Alfa Romeo Owners Club Chapter established in the United States in approximately 20 years.  The local chapter is recognized and affiliated with the National Alfa Romeo Owners Club.  New and current Alfa Romeo owners may join by visiting //www.aroc-usa.org/membership/.  At 2pm on Saturday, July 15 during the Italian Cortile at the Pittsburgh Golf Club, the Three Rivers Alfisti and all interested members are invited to gather to celebrate the launch.

Three Rivers Alfisti is based in Western Pennsylvania with membership throughout the Tri-state area.  Membership comprises the Western side of the Appalachian Mountains up to Erie, PA, into South-Eastern Ohio and Northern West Virginia.

History

In the late 1970's Howard West, Don Wannagat, Kevin Benzenhoefer and several others initiated the development of an Alfa Romeo Owners Group in the Pittsburgh area called "Allegheny Alfisti". Several meetings where held over about 3 years, but the club wasn't able to get up and running.

In 2010, during the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix's Cortile Italian Car Show, Alfa owners, Marianne Fenoglietto and Jim Shaw, started discussing the idea of creating an AROC chapter in Western Pennsylvania. The idea was discussed for quite a number of years, but again no one could really take the mantle of leadership to get a club launched.

In 2016, Ron Lewis Automotive Group became the only local Alfa Romeo dealer in the Pittsburgh area.   In April 2017, Ron Lewis Alfa Romeo hosted a launch event for the 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia, which was attended by many local Pittsburgh Alfisti.  The idea for an Owners Club Chapter was again revisited.  Jim Neville and Bernie Martin, both Alfa owners, collaborated with Gwen Lewis from Ron Lewis Alfa Romeo on pursuing the Chapter formation and launch.

Three Rivers Alfisti Founding Officers

Jim Neville, President - Jim is a long-time Alfa enthusiast and owner of an award winning 1967 Duetto Spider.  He is Vice President of Oil and Gas at Equipment & Controls, Inc. in Pittsburgh PA.  "It's perfect timing for the Three Rivers Alfisti to officially kick off at the Cortile Italian Car Show Saturday July 15, 2017," said Jim Neville, First President of Three Rivers Alfisti.  "Alfa Romeo's return to the US, and the launch of our new Chapter, present a great opportunity for owners to share their love for these automobiles."

Gwen Lewis, Vice President - Gwen is also Vice President of Marketing/Online Operations at the Ron Lewis Automotive Group.  Ron Lewis Alfa Romeo (www.ronlewisalfaromeo.com) is the newest franchise addition to the family-run dealership group.  "To celebrate the launch of our Chapter, Ron Lewis Alfa Romeo will subsidize a 1-year Standard membership of any new Alfa Romeo customers July 15, 2017-December 31, 2017," said Gwen Lewis.  "We're excited to welcome our customers to the joys of Alfa Romeo ownership and to introduce them to a local group who share the same affinity."

RON LEWIS ALFA ROMEO CREATES GIULIA "ART CAR"

PITTSBURGH, PA - July 10, 2017 - Ron Lewis Alfa Romeo today announced it is creating an "Art Car" with a 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia, dipped by 304Dips, and painted live by local Pittsburgh artist, Dave O'Brien.  The painting on the Giulia will take place live in Market Square, Pittsburgh on Wednesday, July 12, coinciding with the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix's Press Conference.   Set up will begin around 9am with painting anticipated between 10am-2pm.

Ron Lewis Alfa Romeo is providing a 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia as the "canvas" for this work of art.  Spectators are welcome to watch Dave O'Brien in Market Square as he creates a piece of mobile artwork, inspired by his roots in Pittsburgh.

After the painting is completed in Market Square, Ron Lewis Alfa Romeo will have the "Art Car" on display at the Tune-Up at Atria's Bridge Party later that evening, as well as at the Ron Lewis Alfa Romeo booth at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix's Italian Cortile on July 15-16.

Dave O'Brien was chosen by Ron Lewis Alfa Romeo as the artist for this project. Dave explains:  "The Alfa Romeo project is something that I have been dreaming about doing for a year now. It's surreal that the opportunity came to me, but I find it important that the car is live painted in Market Square open to the public where anyone can come see the process of artwork made. The experience is not only more interactive, but brings light to the new Alfa Romeo in Pittsburgh. I am very thankful for all or the people who have gotten me to this point in my art career and appreciate all of those key people who made this project happen on July 12th."

304Dips, based in Morgantown, WV was selected as the company to perform the "dip" of the Giulia, providing a liquid wrap spray on coating over the exterior of the Giulia.  The dipping process took a few days to complete and provides the "canvas" for this project.  The liquid paint wrap is sprayed onto a car like paint, but can be peeled off by hand. It is safe, easily removable, and can last for a few years.

"We wanted to do something big to celebrate Alfa Romeo being chosen as the Proiettore Macchina at the Italian Cortile this year," said Gwen Lewis, Vice President of Marketing/Online Operations at the Ron Lewis Automotive Group.  "We felt that Dave O'Brien was a perfect choice for this project with his Pop Art/Impressionistic style and affinity to Pittsburgh icons."  Ron Lewis Alfa Romeo also has a selection of 'non-dipped' Alfa Romeo Giulias and the 4C in stock, available at www.ronlewisalfaromeo.com and is the only official retailer of Alfa Romeo models in a 50-mile radius from the 20839 Route 19, Cranberry Township showroom.

About Dave O'Brien

Dave O'Brien explores a blend of pop-impressionism through a variety of materials and mediums in each one of his paintings. O'Brien, a Pittsburgh native with an appreciation for art and music at an early age, is self-taught and only began painting in December of 2015 as a means of providing Christmas presents for friends and family members.  Dave debuted his first work in March of 2016 when his Pittsburgh Irish was selected to be featured on the Official Pittsburgh Saint Patrick's Parade t-shirt. More opportunities arose when O'Brien's art was found on Full Pint Brewing beer tap handles and a designer clothing line called, VIDA. Since the fall of 2016, O'Brien experimented with live paintings curated by Redfishbowl™, FAMEE LLC, and Pittsburgh Beautiful, and has worked on art installations for the Carnegie Library of Downtown Pittsburgh, Legends Eatery on North Shore, Delanie's Coffeeshop, War Streets Brewery, and Elite Dance by Damian.
